My 6 Favorite Podcasts (this week)

I have become a podcast junky. During my one hour commute each day, I consume as much information as possible. Most of these podcasts are focused on marketing or design. Every now and then I drift into something that is purely entertainment. But I tend to be choosy about those.

The podcasts listed below are must-listens each week (or more) for me.

1: PnR’s This Old Marketing is, for my money (which is nothing because the podcast is free), the best podcast currently running. Each week they run though a few top stories related to content marketing. Then they rant or rave about an additional story from the previous week. The podcast then ends with a classic example of content marketing. The show is hosted by Robert Rose (@Robert_Rose, who wrote a book I’m currently devouring) and Joe Pulizzi (@joepulizzi) of the Content Marketing Institute.

2: The Deeply Graphic DesignCast is a web and graphic design podcast. It not only discusses different trends, but gives great insight on how different entrepreneurs run their own design shops. The show is hosted by Wes McDowell (@WesMcDowell) of The Deep End, Mikelle Morrison of MKM Design, and Nick Longo (@longodesignsinc) of Longo Designs.

There’s also an active Twitter community via the #SMACtalk hashtag. The show is hosted by Daniel Newman (@DanielNewmanUV) and Brian Fanzo (@iSocialFanz).

4: The Email Design Podcast from Litmus is a podcast I just recently stumbled upon. I’ve been a fan of Litmus and their services since I first attended their 2013 Email Design Conference. This show is hosted by Jason Rodriguez (@rodriguezcommaj) and Kevin Mandeville (@KevinMandeville).

5: The Dirt is a user experience podcast produced by the UX geniuses at Fresh Tilled Soil. Each episode features discussions on different challenges presented in web and product design/development. It’s always great to hear how designers and developers attack different sides of the same project. This show is hosted by Tim Wright (@csskarma), Steve Hickey (@stevehickeydsgn), and Mark Grambau (@markgrambau).

6: Tech in Boston is another show that I have recently been listening to. It’s inspiring to hear how the guests are in different phases of launching their tech companies. Each episode is hosted by Dave Gerhardt (@davegerhardt) of HubSpot.
